Westlake Forest

Located in Katy North is the neighborhood of Westlake Forest, home to a well-established community of mid-sized homes. Enjoy the surrounding Westlake Forest Recreation Area with its winding trails dotted by large trees and maintained flower beds. A community center welcomes residents on Franz Rd where monthly Community Improvement Association (CIA) meetings take place. The association provides a monthly newsletter detailing events, area enhancements, and community news. They manage the area pool and recreation area where residents and their guests can swim a few laps in the renovated Olympic-style swimming pool or spend some time in the adjacent gated playground. The neighborhood’s Reflections Park includes a gazebo near the Mayde Creek Hike and Bike Trail. This blacktop surface leads from Reflection Park to Cullen Park, through Addicks Reservoir, and all the way to Highway 6, providing a 3 mile course for cyclists, joggers, walkers, and nature enthusiasts.

Head out into the city of Katy where you’ll find a variety of shopping centers, restaurants, churches, and the West Houston Medical Center. If you’re looking for indoor entertainment, why not check out one of Katy’s museums? Johnny Nelson Katy Heritage Museum includes farming equipment and artifacts from Katy’s early days in the late 1800s. The MKT Railroad Depot & Park offers brochures and maps of the area to help you explore on your own. While you’re there, you’ll even learn about how the city got its name! Head over to check out some historic shops and antiques or spend a day at Altitude Trampoline Park or Main Event for arcade games, bowling, and laser tag. An evening out might include a trip to Wildcatter Saloon and Pavilion for a concert or festival followed by a visit to World of Beer or No Label Brewing Co. for a handcrafted lager.
